Original 'Cenote' painting
Day six from the Daily Healing Series, this painting depicts a calming memory of swimming in a cenote in Yucatán, Mexico. The natural pool wasn't as pretty as the others, it looked like a normal lake with a lot of algae. When the Mayan man handed the goggles to me and told me to dive down, I was apprehensive but sure enough I went for it. On the count of three I dove down, it felt like it took me a full 60 seconds to swim through a thick layer of dark green and then grey. Just as I was going to turn back, the water became crystal clear, vines were twisting between sparkling bubbles, I was swimming in liquid diamonds. It was a very surreal and magical experience.

About Daily Healing
My art has always been a reflection of my travels and experiences. But, this latest series is reflective of an entirely new journey. As I navigate health treatments, these paintings have become a healing exercise, a moment of calm in my day when I can visualise and paint memories from my past travels. When I'm not feeling so good, I revisit this fresh, duney beach in Sweden, or relive the pitter-patter of a rainy night in Soho.
